Living By Faith – Notes/Study Sheet

(Rom. 1:16-17)

 

Introduction:

   * “The just shall live by faith” occurs 4 times in Scripture.

   * Must look to the Scriptures when our faith weakens.

 

1. Habakkuk

   * Why was God ignoring His people? Answer:_________________________________________________________.

   * He had a plan (Hab. 1:5-11). He would deal w/Judah, then w/Chaldeans. Hab. 2: 5 woes against Chaldeans (v. 5-20).

   * Habakkuk still confused, but would wait for the answer (Hab. 1:12-2:2).

   * God repeated that He would deal w/Babylonians, but the righteous would live by faith (Hab. 2:4).

3. Galatians

   * Paul established Galatian churches on 1st mission campaign (Acts 13:4-14:26). Sometime later, he heard about a

      problem there (Gal. 2:4). 1st 4 chapters of Galatians deal w/this.

      - Galatians’ “new gospel” (combining elements of Old & New Law) incorrect.

4. Hebrews

   * Similar to Galatians: push for Christians to abandon Christianity and embrace Judaism.

   * Heb. 10: 1) OT could not deal w/sin very well (vv. 1-4). 2) Christ was the perfect sacrifice (vv. 5-10). 3) One

   * Remain faithful in view of the approaching day (Judgment for us) Heb. 10:19-25.

   * Heb. 10:37 – Who is coming? __________________Meaning of “little while?”_______________________________

   * Heb. 10:39 – The fearful of weak faith will draw back into perdition. The righteous live by an abiding, unshakable

      faith.
